Darth Plagueis

Hego Damask was born on Mygeeto between 147 and 120 BBY. His mother, discovering that her son was Force-sensitive, gave him to the Bith Sith Darth Tenebrous, who taught him the secrets of the order. In 67 BBY the apprentice betrayed and killed his master, taking his place as Dark Lord.

Under his real name, Damask headed the financial corporation Damask Holdings and used his influence over corporations and politics to steer the galaxy toward the fall of the Republic in accordance with the Sith design. At the same time, he studied power over life and death. While conducting business on Naboo, he noticed a young man named Palpatine who craved power, pushed him to murder his own family, and made him his apprentice under the name Darth Sidious.

An assassination attempt by the Maladians cost Plagueis part of his face and forced him to wear a transpirator; he spent the next twenty years as a recluse in his laboratory studying midi-chlorians while his apprentice pursued politics. In 32 BBY, on the night Palpatine was elected Supreme Chancellor, Sidious killed his sleeping master.
