Description
Dessel grew up on the mining world of Apatros, working in cortosis extraction and sinking into debt to the company. After killing a Republic officer in a brawl, he enlisted in the Sith army, discovered his connection to the Force, and was sent to the academy on Korriban, where he received the name Bane. He regarded the teaching of a “brotherhood” of equal Sith as the cause of their weakness: rivalry and leveling, in his view, diluted power instead of concentrating it.
On Ruusan, Bane pushed Lord Kaan to use the thought bomb, which destroyed both the Brotherhood of Darkness and many Jedi, while he himself survived. He took the girl Zannah as his apprentice and proclaimed the Rule of Two: there could be only two Sith — a master who embodies power and an apprentice who craves it. The order was to remain in hiding, accumulate influence, and spend centuries preparing the downfall of the Jedi.
Bane wore on his body a carapace of orbalisk parasites that gave him protection and strength, and he sought knowledge in ancient repositories. He died on Ambria at the hand of Zannah, who thereby proved her right to take her master's place.
