25 ABYBattle of Helska IVNew Republic forces destroyed the ice planet Helska IV along with the Praetorite Vong base, thwarting the first phase of the invasion.
c. 25 ABYBattle of DantooineThe Yuuzhan Vong caught up with a camp of refugees from Dubrillion and threw hordes of Chazrach slaves into battle. The Jedi discovered that these creatures were merely mindless executors of orders, and Luke Skywalker destroyed their controller, after which part of the enemy force scattered and the surviving refugees managed to escape. The planet remained in the invaders' hands.
c. 25 ABYCaptivity and rescue of Jacen Solo on BelkadanA reconnaissance mission brought Luke Skywalker and his nephew to a world poisoned by the invaders. Jacen followed a vision, lost a fight to a Vong warrior, and ended up in a torture device, but his uncle fought his way to him and freed him, tearing out the implanted growth.
c. 25 ABYRescue of scientists on BimmielCorran Horn and Ganner Rhysode went to a distant world to find a missing scientific expedition. They got the people out of harm's way but ran into the invaders' warriors: Horn killed two of them single-handedly at the cost of severe wounds, and his partner carried him back to their side.

c. 27 ABYDeath of Borsk Fey'lyaWhen the enemy burst into the former Imperial Palace, the New Republic's Chief of State blew himself up with a proton bomb, taking some twenty-five thousand invaders with him. His target was the warmaster Tsavong Lah, but Lah had been warned and stayed outside the capital.
c. 27 ABYDeath of Anakin SoloHan and Leia's younger son led the strike team he himself had proposed. Badly wounded in one of the skirmishes, he stayed behind to cover his comrades' retreat and died, having achieved complete unity with the Force before his death. His mother felt his passing from many light-years away.
c. 27 ABYMission to MyrkrThe invaders bred the voxyn, creatures that sense Jedi through the Force. A team of seventeen Jedi allowed themselves to be captured, reached the worldship at Myrkr, and destroyed the voxyn queen, but paid for it with the deaths of six of its members.
c. 27 ABYCapture of Jacen Solo at MyrkrTaking command after his brother's death, Jacen sent his surviving comrades to the captured ship and killed the voxyn queen himself. He did not have time to get away: he was captured by the forces of Nom Anor and Vergere, and for his family he vanished for a long time.
c. 27 ABYFoiled attempt to kidnap Ben SkywalkerSenator Viqi Shesh, who was working for the invaders, tried to abduct Luke Skywalker's infant son for the warmaster Tsavong Lah. Leia Organa Solo foiled the abduction and gave chase, but the traitor escaped and returned to the Vong.

c. 28 ABYFormation of the Galactic Federation of Free AlliancesThe New Republic reorganized itself into a federation capable of fighting the war to victory.
c. 28 ABYDeath of Tsavong Lah at Ebaq 9The invaders' warmaster survived the destruction of his troops on the moon, saved by his personal guard. Recovering, he immobilized the Jedi with a sticky mass and wounded Lowbacca, but in a duel Jaina Solo pierced his throat with her lightsaber.
c. 28 ABYElection of Cal Omas and restoration of the Jedi CouncilA struggle for the post of Chief of State unfolded on Mon Calamari. Mara Jade foiled an assassination attempt on Cal Omas by Vong agents, and Lando Calrissian and Talon Karrde won the senators over to his side. Having won, Omas reconciled the military with the Senate and recreated the High Council, half of it made up of Jedi.
c. 28 ABYKnighting of the Myrkr mission membersThe apprentices who survived the mission to Myrkr were publicly raised to the rank of Knight, and the fallen were honored by name. Luke Skywalker named Jaina Solo the Sword of the Jedi.
c. 28 ABYSecond Battle of Obroa-skaiJaina Solo's strike group attacked a huge worldship believed to be the Supreme Overlord's flagship. The turning point came with the Hapan Battle Dragons under Tenel Ka. The ship turned out to belong to someone else, but the destroyed fleet was the invaders' last extragalactic reserve, and they received no more reinforcements from outside.
