Privacy
The archive is read without an account and collects no personal data. Below is exactly what is stored, and where.
No account needed
Reading the encyclopedia requires no account. Sign-in forms exist for the editorial side only and are not available to readers.
No advertising trackers
The project loads no ad networks, social network counters or external analytics scripts. Pages do not load third-party code that tracks behaviour.
What is stored in your browser
These values are kept locally, are not sent to the server, and are removed together with the site data in your browser settings:
- spoiler mode — which works you have marked as watched;
- study route progress — which steps you have already completed.
Selected language
If you switched the language with the “EN” or “RU” button in the header, the server remembers the choice in the archive_locale cookie for a year. Unlike the settings above, the browser sends it to the server: it decides which language the home page opens in. Page scripts cannot read this cookie. Only the switcher link sets it (an address with the lang parameter); without it the home page opens in the browser's language.
What is kept in the address bar
The timeline range, the selected filters, the search query and the current moment on the home page live in the page address. This is deliberate: such a link can be shared or bookmarked, and it opens in the same state.
Visit statistics
To understand which sections are read, the archive keeps anonymous statistics with its own script, without cookies or third-party services. When a page opens, the server receives its address without parameters, the address of the site you came from (without the page or search phrase), and the time the tab was on screen.
The statistics do not store the IP address. At the moment of the request it is used to determine the country and, together with the browser, is turned into a fingerprint — a hash with a secret that changes every day and is then deleted. So the views of one day appear as the visit of one visitor, but different days cannot be linked and the address cannot be recovered from the fingerprint. Records are kept for 90 days.
If your browser sends a “do not track” signal (Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control), no statistics are collected at all. The country is determined with the IP Geolocation by DB-IP database.
Server logs
Like any web server, the application records technical details of requests: the page address, the response code and the processing time. These records are needed to find failures and are not used to build a reader profile.
Feedback
Questions about the archive's data and requests to correct material should be sent through the contacts given on the About page.
