The Home

The Home is a large iron asteroid in the star system designated MZX32905, located near Bimmiel, in the Kanz sector of the Outer Rim. The name is a translation of what the asteroid was called by the sentient species that inhabited it, which outwardly resembled mynocks.

The asteroid was deeply suffused with dark side energy, which influenced the development of its inhabitants. These creatures created a fairly advanced civilization and learned to draw on the dark side, but subsequently died out; one of the probable reasons is considered to be their inability to reproduce outside the Home.

Later, mining was conducted on the asteroid. Because of the Home's own energy and the residual power of the extinct species, strange phenomena began to occur at the base: Force-sensitives reported unusual abilities and visions, and some of the miners began to identify themselves with the ancient creatures. Together with the depletion of the ore veins, this made the mining unprofitable. The base's manager, himself Force-sensitive, left the asteroid to find the Sith and returned as the Sith Lord Darth Vectivus, building a residential complex here with a large mansion.

Centuries later, Vectivus's refuge was used by Lumiya, who turned it into a place of seclusion and study of the dark side. The Home appears in the novels of the Legacy of the Force series, beginning with Betrayal, and is mentioned in the books of the Fate of the Jedi series.
