Dathomir

Dathomir was ruled by an ancient matriarchal order, the Nightsisters: the Force-wielding witches kept to themselves, rejected any alliances, and regarded outsiders with suspicion. Their power came from the Force, but the sisters belonged neither to the Sith nor to the Jedi.

The order's power collapsed when its head, Mother Talzin, agreed to help Asajj Ventress take revenge on Count Dooku. The assassination attempt failed, and Savage Opress, the apprentice sent by the Nightsisters, secretly remained loyal to them, but these plans also came to nothing.

In response Dooku sent General Grievous to exterminate the order. The Nightsisters fought back with ancient spells but were defeated, and only the memory of their rule remained. Later the former Sith Maul brought Ezra Bridger to Dathomir in order to unlock the secrets of the holocrons with the help of Nightsister magic.
