Aldhani

Aldhani is a planet with vast highlands, where centuries before the rise of the Empire there were hundreds of settlements of native inhabitants. In 18 BBY, Imperial forces came here and occupied the Alkenzi airbase, fifty-two kilometers west of the Valley of Akti Amauh; the local population was gradually pushed out of the highlands.

The measures proved effective: whereas thousands had once made the pilgrimage to the sacred sites, by 5 BBY only about sixty people completed the full journey. In the same area was an Imperial dam where the payroll for the sector was kept. Vel Sartha, a cousin of Senator Mon Mothma, led a team that planned to steal these funds, and the operation was timed to coincide with a rare celestial phenomenon observed above the planet.
