Warning: this entry reveals minor plot details.

The falsely accused Padawan was exonerated but refused to return to an Order that had lost her trust.

Description

The trigger was a bombing in a hangar of the Jedi Temple that claimed the lives of personnel. Letta Turmond, detained on suspicion, was killed right in her cell while Ahsoka Tano was speaking with her, and the blame fell on the Padawan. She escaped from custody in order to conduct her own investigation, and in the lower levels of Coruscant she was forced to accept help from Asajj Ventress, which finally convinced many of her guilt. The Council expelled Ahsoka from the Order and handed her over to a Republic military tribunal, refusing to speak in her defense: in wartime, the Order preferred not to call its own reputation into question. The prosecution was led by the admiralty itself, and her defense was taken up by Anakin Skywalker, who in the midst of the trial found the real culprit, Barriss Offee, who explained her actions by the conviction that the Order had become an instrument of war. The charges were dropped, and the Council offered Ahsoka the chance to return, presenting what had happened as a trial set by the Force itself. She refused, saying that she could no longer trust those who had turned their backs on her, and left, remaining strong in the Force but outside the Order.
