Death of Prince Xizor and destruction of his skyhook

Xizor, a Falleen prince and the underlord of the Black Sun syndicate, sought the position of Emperor Palpatine's chief confidant and therefore waged a covert feud with Darth Vader. His plan was to kill Luke Skywalker, whom Vader wanted alive. The plan was carried out by his aide, the replicant Guri. One of the attempts failed when the mercenary Skahtul was unable to capture Skywalker. The prince then lured Leia Organa, who had come for information, to his residence, and Skywalker, Dash Rendar, Chewbacca, and Lando Calrissian infiltrated his palace on Coruscant. During the confrontation, Skywalker threatened him with a thermal detonator fitted with a dead-man's switch that would trigger upon his death. The climax came on the prince's orbital skyhook, where he had fled. While giving the order to destroy a YT-1300 light freighter, he named Skywalker, in defiance of Vader's direct prohibition against pursuing him. The skyhook was destroyed along with its owner. Rumors that Xizor had survived circulated even decades later but were given no credence.
