Founding of the Brotherhood of the Sith

After Arca Jeth's death on Deneba, many Knights lost faith in the steadfastness of the Order. Exar Kun took advantage of this: arriving on Ossus, he gave a speech that sowed doubt and promised to restore the “lost” abilities of the Jedi. In reality he was looking for commanders for a future war against the Republic and was hunting for Odan-Urr's Sith holocron. Having entered the old Master's chambers, he killed him and took the artifact, and when caught on the spot, he lied to the students that Odan-Urr had himself bequeathed the holocron to him. Kun took twenty Knights aboard his ship Starstorm One to Yavin 4, where he had already enslaved the Massassi and was erecting temples that amplified dark power. Sensing the presence of darkness there, Oss Wilum tried to fly away; the Massassi detained him, and the alliance nearly fell apart until Kun announced that he needed the Knights' help to cleanse the world. To forestall new doubts, he smashed Odan-Urr's holocron, declaring that he was freeing it from dark influence. In fact, the Sith teachings dormant in the artifact were released, and the shards entered the bodies of his followers and suppressed their will. Thus the Brotherhood of the Sith came into being; the first task of its members was to kill their own teachers.
