Darth Maul

Maul was a Zabrak from Dathomir, a son of Mother Talzin, who was taken as a child by Darth Sidious and raised as a weapon filled with hatred for the Jedi. In 32 BBY he tracked down Queen Amidala, and in a duel on Naboo he killed Qui-Gon Jinn, but he was cut in two by Obi-Wan Kenobi and fell down a shaft.

He survived, losing his sanity and acquiring mechanical legs, and years later he was found on the junk world of Lotho Minor by his brother Savage Opress. Having regained his mind, Maul and his brother gathered criminal organizations under his command — Black Sun, the Hutts, and Death Watch — into an alliance known as the Shadow Collective, and he took control of Mandalore, killing Pre Vizsla and Duchess Satine Kryze. Sidious, seeing him as a rival, personally defeated the brothers and declared that Maul was no longer his apprentice.

Maul later seized power over Mandalore again and was deposed in the siege led by Ahsoka Tano. In the era of the Empire he ran his own criminal syndicate, and he died on Tatooine at the hand of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
